Traditional rock placement underwater can be expensive as it is difficult to keep the placement within the boundaries of the breakwater to be formed. This results in excess rock being used to form the breakwater. Using a combination large sand filled geotextile containers it is possible to stack the containers within the limits of the breakwater profile. These specially fabricated containers vary in size from those having a filled volume of 2.5 cubic metres to large mega containers having a filled volume in excess of 250 cubic metres.
