Segmental block walls consist of concrete blocks manufactured to provide a mortarless facing system and geogrids which are connected to the facing blocks and extend horizontally back into the engineered backfill soil to create a composite structure. Maccaferri offers a number of segmental block and geogrid combinations where the geogrid connection strength to the facing blocks have been independently verified and certified by leading research institutes and testing laboratories. The geogrids provide a soil reinforcing function, thus improve stability of the soil fill.

Keystone Walls
Keystone blocks are mortorless concrete blocks with fiberglass locator pins that have a long history of use with Tensar uniaxial geogrids in New Zealand. Tensar uniaxial geogrids are produced from HDPE which is inert to chemical and biological attack. Load is carried mainly by bearing on the thick transverse bars, and transferred through the junctions to the longitudinal ribs at low deformations. Keystone block walls reinforced with Tensar have been used in residential areas to increase the available land for development as well as in road infrastructure projects including bridge abutment walls.

Landmark and Diamond Pro
Landmark and Diamond Pro are manufactured by Firth Industries for use as facing blocks for reinforced soil structures. Miragrid GX geogrids are manufactured from high modulus polyester yarns, woven into a stable interlocking pattern and then coated for protection from installation damage and U.V. The flexible nature of Miragrid GX geogrid allows them to be used with Diamond Pro with its intergral rear locator as well as Anchor Landmark that incorporates a channel and locking bar system to provide a fully positive connection between the geogrid and facing block.
